The New York Times Suffers Shrinkage

And not just in its stock price: it's cutting 1.5 inches from the width of its pages. While the Times understandably states that the smaller size will cut printing expenses, I'm surprised that they didn't offer this as a excuse. It definitely would have gone down well with the Hamptons crowd.
Update: In contrast to the shrinking New York Times, is its chief tabloid-sized competitor poised to go national?
